Levels
Levels are designed to give swimmers attainable goals during the swim season, while still having fun. Swimmers may "test" and move up at any point during the season.. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** |
Gold
Can perform all 4 competitive strokes legally
Can dive from the blocks and dolphin kick in streamline position
Can perform a legal flip turn
Can swim a practice 200 freestyle without stopping
Mid season work outs 3000-4500 yards a practice
Can swim a 50 freestyle in under 1 minute
Typically has passed level 5 in swim lessons
Practice at least 6 hours per week
Attends mock meets on Fridays before meets
Encouraged to attend all team meets, the Divisional and Conference Championships
Goal of competing at the Conference Championships and beyond
Practice is 4:00-6:00 Monday thru Friday

Able to swim a 50 yards freestyle with face in the water (no dog-paddling) and without stopping
Is not intimidated by deep water and can jump off blocks
Able to focus attention for 60 minutes
Mid season Work outs 1000-1500 yards per practice
Practice at least 3 hours per week
Typically has passed level 3 in swim lessons
Focus on Meeting Gold level skills - Stroke technique will be emphasized
Attend "mock meets" on Fridays before scheduled meets
Able to attend all team meets, the Divisional and Conference Championships
Goal to Swim all 4 strokes legally in a meet
Practice is 4:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Thursday
Friday Mock Meets may run a little later

Junior Jays
Must be at least 5 years old
Able to sign up one month at a time
No more then 5 swimmers per group
Coach will be in the water 50-75% of the time
Has an interest in competitive swimming - wants to learn
Comfortable in water - getting face wet
Able to jump feet first into deep water, recover and return to wall unassisted
practice 1 hour per week
Focus on meeting Silver level skills - build endurance and water safety
Encouraged to attend 1 Home Swim Meet in December (if can swim 25 yards at that time)
Practice 4:00-4:30 Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur
Invited to Friday Mock Meets
Coach oversees all placements in levels
